Season ends - Lots More to Come

The Lord Admiral's season came to a close last night with our December monthly.

Yours truly was fortunate enough to be the "big" winner of the evening. Highlight of the night for me was playing with Ryan and Mayte who rarely are able to attend. Both finished in the black and I think fun was had by all.

Congrats to Headhunter Mark who finishes 2004 as our money leader. Our gold chip winners are:

Sean with the 5 Stud, Club Champ Jimmy Q aka The Man with NLHE, Action Jason with the PLO8

I am also excited because the PokerProf and I recorded a great interview for Sunday's edition of Card Club. This is going to be a great episode.

Finally - back to the tables

Our monthly game is tomorrow night and I am thrilled to be back at the table. With the season and everyones schedule we had no events between the November and December games and I was beginning to suffer withdrawal.

I am also thrilled that our eight seats include two unvested players. Col. Flagg always does well and is a pleasure to spend time with but I see him very rarely in the machinations that are our social circles. I am looking forward to it. It will be nice dealing to Mrs. Flagg as well.

There have been some great posts by Felicia Lee since winning the bloggers tourney. I notice she turned her comments off - I never found out exactly why but I 100% agree with a writer owning the fruits of ones craft. The blog is on my regular route and I suggest it is worth a periodic visit if you haven't seen it before.

Wrong Place wrong time

Jealousy is not one of my numerous failings but the green-eyed monster was raging full-steam when I read flipchipro's summary of the Poker Blogger's tournament today.

Oh how nice it would have been to sit around the table with the very people whose lives I have been following so closely by reading their thoughts and opinions over the last year.

In the end I always make the best with what I have and my family and I have had a great weekend - but somewhere deep in my mind I know I was meant to be somewhere else this Saturday.

Not that we didn't accomplish anything this weekend. Thanks to Evan and Jake we have produced our fifth podcast of Card Club.

There is lots to look forward to this week, most importantly our December monthly will be held this Thursday and it looks like no one can stop Headhunter Mark from finishing the year's top money leader.

Best of luck to everyone whereever they play.

And maybe, just maybe, I'll be able to challenge Felicia Lee for her title next year.

Party Poker Blogs
Another mention of the Lord Admirals. Iggy has posted a host of new poker blogs and we were fortunate enough to be one of them.

Vegas in Alabama

As I was sitting down tonight to make a small post to cap off the day I decided to browse through some of the poker blogs I like to keep an eye on.

I then came across this totally by accident...

It is always cool to see how other clubs organize their information and present it to their members and the world. The Huntsvegas site is slick and professional and it is cool to see them speak so well of the work we have done.

The Huntsvegas poker site has some neat ideas for the Admirals - like more accurate reporting on tournaments. I know our out-of-town members who don't play with us as often are always asking for more news and similar format could go over well.

I bet it is warm in Alabama too - maybe the Admirals should go on tour of the all the great private card games in North America. I bet we'd hold our own - but we would learn and teach a lot, too.
