Missing Blog of the Week

A small mixup this week resulted in the last 3 mins of the show being trimmed.

Almost all of Mark's SnG section was there (the final exit was missed) but more importantly PokerGeek was blog of the week because of his WPT invitational stories and the part of the show was missed completely.

Apologies to Chris for that - we'll give him props next week.

Back from the dead...barely

I am among the living again though I feel like the walking dead.

We do have a show this week. It is in the can and Greg the Ace is working his magic to master it as we speak. It should be available sometime after dinner.

Plans for the show: I am trying to organize a round table for some NL book discussions. I am also trying to come up with a new format for shows notes. I can add more information if I use an OPML approach a la Adam Curry.

More to come when I can write without getting light-headed.

Player down

My turn dammit. After Stacks was sick two weeks ago and Mark being bed-ridden for the better part of last week I spent the better part of Sunday and today on the couch. I expect to be back up tomorrow.

After talking about Pokertracker on our podcast I decided to get back on the wagon. I've changed laptops so my official copy is on the desktop. For some reason I am having a licensing issue (I did pay for the full version). I need to straighten that out.

We also should be close to our friendly with the HuntsVegas crew. I need to nudge Mark to get it worked out.

I remember when...

Every week Card Club chooses a blog of the week based on my subjective whimsical decision of what interested me that week.

Our episode 10 BOW was Mean Gene.

Well I guess I know a good thing when I see it because he is now contributing to PokerTV with the likes of Gary Carson.

Read all about it at Gene's blog.

What's up for the show?

Work has begun for the show this week - planning anyway.

Mark is hoping to have his update on his SitnGo strategy in this week's episode.

We are working on a round table looking at No Limit books. This may or may not be ready for the upcoming show. We'll include Dolly, Hellmuth, Reuben and Ciaffone, and some of Cloutier and McEvoys work.

I am also enjoying a compilation book on gambling my folks gave me for Christmas. Since it is downstairs and I am in my family room right now I'll give the exact title later. One chapter has some excerpts from Jessup's Cinicinnati Kid. I think I'll read a paragraph or two that I found very cool.

A few months ago I spent a lot of time on pokertracker - finagling it just so to maximize my learning and evaluation. I may spend some time on that as well - this episode or next.

Anyway - lots of thoughts - time to put it all together.

Hiatus Over

Well with my trip out of town last week and two tournaments this week I've taken a small hiatus from this blog....until now.

Where to catch up?

In short San Diego is beautiful and I will have to go back one day.

Last week I played in the WPBT and was fortunate enough to finish 11th out of a field of 151. This was largely due to a horseshoe in the proximity of my posterior.

Kudos to Scott the Voice who won our 7 Stud Gold Chip and is now the Lord Admiral's fourth Gold Chip holder. We are still looking for our second winner.

As for the show I've been playing with Skype to record phone conversations. Hooking the lineout of the desktop to the linein on the laptop seems to work well. This saves me all the mixing time I've been using in the show.

I've also finally got Audacity working with the Tascam unit. It took me too long to realize the Tascam acts as an external sound card. Once I clued in I found the preference that lets me change the incoming recording device within the software. Together with the Samson condensor mic I am getting a good sound. All I need is another good mic and I can take the show on the road (like to a Lord Admiral game!).
I'd love to record Brent in a Hellmuthian rant.
